But while kids across the Kansas City area are already back in the classroom, some of them don&#8217;t have a place to call home.<\/p>\n<p>The average age of a homeless person in Missouri is just 7 years old, but there is hope. Organizations like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hillcresttransitionalhousing.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hillcrest Transitional Housing<\/a> are working to give homeless families the skills they need to succeed \u2014 while providing them a roof over their heads.<\/p>\n<p>But Hillcrest Transitional Housing can&#8217;t carry out their mission alone; community support is critical to their success. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.autoinsdiscounters.com\/community-corner\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Auto Insurance Discounters is proud to support Hillcrest Transitional Housing<\/a> \u2014 and if you&#8217;re interested in helping out, there are plenty of opportunities for you to do just that this fall.<\/p>\n<p>The 16th Annual Hillcrest Gala &amp; Auction is coming up on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Hilton+Garden+Inn+Independence\/@39.0410652,-94.3511494,17z\/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x87c11cfac5974d51:0x9fef72a093113a8d!8m2!3d39.0410652!4d-94.3489554\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hilton Garden Inn in Independence, MO<\/a>.
